This forecast tells you how much State Pension you are entitled to when you reach State Pension age. It will give you an estimate of your Basic State Pension and any additional State Pension; also called the State Second Pension and the State Earnings-Related Pension Scheme (SERPS). It is worth doing as State Benefits are extremely complicated to work out yourself - even the experts struggle with this. You are able to request this by calling 0845 300 0168, or by going online at www.direct.gov.uk and searching for State Pension Forecast.
Please note you will not automatically receive these State Pensions at State Pension age - the onus is on you to make sure you receive them. If the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) knows where you are, you will be contacted and asked to apply for them. If the DWP does not contact you and you are less than three months from State Pension age, be pro-active and contact them yourself to request a claim form.
